File scanning is a security tool that analyzes files for malware and prevents malicious code from harming your computer. Malware can wreak havoc on your system and compromise your personal information, slowing down performance and sometimes rendering your computer unusable. When you select a specific type of threat, the threat status is shown as green (no recommended action), yellow (safety recommendation) or red (warning). This indicates the severity of the threat. The severity is determined by the number and category of threats detected, a combination of the results from multiple antivirus engines, heuristic analysis, behavioral detection and signature matching.
